Passions: Feline Medicine, Feline Internal Medicine, Family Practice.
Dr Milliken knew from the time she
entered school that she wanted to become a veterinarian. She was always fascinated
with animals and wanted to be able to help them. After 3 years of sciences at
the University of Alberta, she headed off to learn how at the Western College
of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon; four years later was granted her D.V.M. “With Distinction.”Dr Milliken began practicing small animal
medicine around the lower mainland after graduation and settled on the North
Shore to share in Highlands Animal Hospital with her husband in 1988. She took
over Seymour Animal Care Clinic in 1993 and now spends most of her time in Deep
Cove.
Dr Milliken loves to get to know her
patients and their caregivers, believing that knowing both will enable her to give
the best possible care. Her passion for providing excellent pet care spreads
infectiously to all aspects of her practice and her team. True to her original
interest, Dr Milliken remains devoted to the veterinary equivalent of ‘family’
practice. She also has a special interest in feline internal medicine.
Outside of work Dr Milliken is an avid
rower and loves to cook with a bias toward good nutrition. Among the family
members she cares for are her husband, her two busy teenagers, an active 6 year old yellow lab, a big old Maine Coon cat and a petite and talkative blue point Siamese.
