Passions: Dermatology, Preventive Health Care, Client Education
Between grade 11 and 12 Dr Lepitre worked
in a veterinary clinic in her home town of Prince George. She soon realized how
much she enjoyed the emotional rewards of “helping people and their best
friends.” She was fascinated with the medical end of being a veterinarian and
decided to pursue this as her career. In
1979 she graduated WCVM in Saskatoon.
Dr Lepitre loves working with clients and
teaching them about health care issues. She focuses a lot on
preventative medicine so that they can prevent health issues or to at least
pick them up at an early stage where simple intervention will resolve the
problem. Her special interest is dermatology, often caused by allergies,
and usually providing quite a puzzle to solve. She gets to know the owners and
their pets very well over the years and really enjoys celebrating success’
achieved through our hard work and diligence together.
Dr Lepitre’s enthusiasm for preventative
health care and client education is the cornerstone of her practice. While on
the surface it can seem expensive in terms of tests, feeding practices and home
care etc., she knows that ultimately it is these practices that keep pets much
healthier, happier and living longer. In the long run, it also saves money for
the owners. She believes that by educating clients that their pets are happier
all round, and that makes her happy too!
Sandy’s favourite animal at the moment is
her dog Casper who needs a lot of help now that she’s 14 years old.
Casper has a certain level of dementia so simple things she used to love
like car rides are now terrifying. However, if she sticks to her well
know trails in Deep Cove she’s still a pretty happy girl. I have always
had a real soft spot for cats though and am missing not being able to have any
since Casper is a full time job these days.
